AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season

In a unexpected partnership that defies traditional predictions, the game developer has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "An unusual meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying transformations reverberate through the shadows." The plot features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a secret cult.

The questline centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Iconic Places and Changes

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Bonus Material

Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana alongside multiple objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Addition

This update also adds the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This signifies scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
