Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
