PSG Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the final seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
